GNI: band saw strip steel

Of the utmost importance for band saw blades, is superior, long-lasting cutting quality. Also required are sufficient toughness, outstanding flatness, and straightness to make saw doctoring quick and easy. GNI band saw strip steel, with its proud our challenge of new frontier mind, fully meets these requirements.

The long-lasting superior cutting quality of GNI band saw strip steel is due to its high abrasion resistance, which is in proportion to tooth hardness. Excessive hardness, however, results in cracking, less toughness, and difficulty in swaging. GNI band saw strip steel is heat-treated to reconcile these conflicting requirements and provides appropriate toughness and hardness.

In addition, band saw strip steel is required to have high fatigue strength and impact resistance because they are subjected to high speeds and long periods of rotation. Proper heat treatment is vital to these qualities as well as to additional requirements including the control of impurities, segregation which can arise during the steel making process, and uniform grinding free from surface defects.

Deleterious inclusions and a high degree of segregation may cause lowering of saw quality. GNI band saw strip steel is made of steel with high purity and uniform structure under GNI's superior steel making technology, and exhibits high fatigue strength and durability.

Strip steel grades

Used for GNI band saw strip steel includes the two grades shown below; impurities are strictly controlled and the occurrence of non-metallic inclusions is kept to the minimum.

Nickel contents added, however, varies according to sawing conditions; nickel may be necessary in a very small amount. Or it may not be necessary at all. GNI band saw strip steel is available in a variety of steel grades to meet your needs.
